prove it, you say? ★
hey! it's been awhile since i've done one of these! this year has just been so INCREDIBLY busy!
after digging around in books and on the internet with my padre' i found these 5, biblically sound, evidences for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. and our goal is to equip YOU guys with tips, evidences, knowledge, etc. so lets jump into it!
1: the proof of the death of Jesus Christ
-looking at the bible like any other historical book, document etc. we can see that there were four accounts of Jesus' death. in those four accounts we also see that there were many women mourning over Jesus. on top of that there were people there casting lots for his clothes. AND finally when he had cried "it is finished" one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear and water/blood flowed out.
2: the stone covering his tomb was rolled away
-back then the roman empire would seal tombs with a cord and clay. then finally they'd stamp their symbol onto the clay. this tomb was sealed and anyone who broke it would face death. plus they had put a soldier there to guard the tomb. when Jesus' resurrected, the tomb was rolled away completely. did the disciples do it? steal the body and hide it so that everyone would think he rose again? hardly! i mean besides the fact that there was a guard there and the stone was totally huge and heavy...why would the disciples go to their death to make others believe something they knew wasn't true? also the bible clearly states that the disciples fell to cowardice and peter actually denied knowing the Christ three times. and why would the guard move the stone and take the body? remember the roman guards were against Jesus and why would he support something, to death, that he was against?
3: the tomb was indeed empty
no one argues this fact the the tomb was completely empty. nada. zip. zero. nothing. ANNNNDD what makes it even more believable is the fact that women found the tomb empty. back then women had such low status as citizens or legal witnesses. why would christianity contrive a legend that stated that women found the empty tomb instead of the disciples, unless it was real?
4: Jesus appears to over 500 people (1 Corinthians 15)
-you may find it surprising that this point is argued the most. people who argue say that "they all had a hallucination." umm. no. it is scientifically impossible for over 500 people to have the same hallucination, at the same time and at the same place. alsooo, hallucinations last minutes to hours. certainly not days at a time like acts 1:3 states. also also, in 1 corinthians 15:6 Paul states that some of these witnesses were still alive. he could not have made this accusation falsely, due to his many enemies/persecutors.
-and going back to our third point; if everyone had a hallucination, wouldn't the jewish leaders be able to present the body? the tomb was empty.
5: the advance of christianity afterwards
-11 disciples (apostles) went to their DEATHS believing, preaching and telling others about this miracle. why would anyone do that unless they truly believed? unless it was real?
i hope that this encourages you in your faith and that next time you're faced with certain questions that you'll be well equipped and ready to answer! God bless, have a blessed rest of your week!
